“The team is taking care of business”-Dani Busboom Kelly opens up about changes in Nebraska volleyball team’s preparations as they continue domination

Dani Busboom Kelly expressed her thoughts about bringing new changes to the Nebraska volleyball team as they extended their unbeaten streak this season. The former Husker lauded the players for their strong performance against Illinois, where they clinched a decisive victory with a score of 25-11, 25-15, 25-14.

The Bob Devaney Sports Center witnessed a turnout of 8,559 fans as the Huskers secured their 14th win of the season. A standout performance came from Andi Jackson, who posted an errorless nine kills with a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, Laney Choboy delivered a career-high with 20 digs, three sets, and two aces. Harper Murray and Virginia also contributed significantly, each adding eight kills to help the team maintain their season-long dominance.

In a post-match press conference, Dani Busboom Kelly shared insights into the team’s performance and thoughts on implementing new changes. The American coach emphasized that the team has been training intensely throughout the season without introducing any major changes.

“You know, I don’t really feel like myself or the staff has done anything different or anything new. The team is taking care of business. They are the ones that come and focus every day, and I think that the leadership has been good and continues to be hungry,” she said.

Busboom Kelly also highlighted the depth of the team, noting that tough practices keep everyone pushed to improve. “I also think that the depth of this team helps when you are in practice. Practices are really tough, and even in November, you saw tonight how the positions are still pretty thin, so the changes we could make are limited. You’ve got to work hard every day, or somebody else can get it done. Our team knows it’s a matter of time before they get pushed, and they’re just trying to stay ahead of that.”

Speaking further about the team’s overall performance this season, Busboom Kelly praised their defensive efforts. She noted that while Nebraska volleyball has traditionally been strong defensively, they have sometimes struggled to produce high offensive numbers. This year, however, they have balanced both sides effectively by focusing on small details that make a significant difference.

“Nebraska has always been great defensively and sometimes hasn’t put up offensive numbers. This year, we’re really putting up high offensive numbers as well. It’s just the attention to detail and the awareness that we’re going to be great on both sides. We’re not going to rely on one or the other to win games,” she explained.

Looking ahead, the Nebraska volleyball team is set to take on Minnesota at the Maturi Pavilion on November 8, 2025. Fans will be eager to see if the Huskers can continue their unbeaten streak and strong performances throughout the season.
