**Salman Khan Faces Legal Notice Over Allegedly Misleading ‘Pan Masala’ Advertisements**
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan finds himself at the center of a legal controversy after a consumer court issued notice to him in relation to allegedly misleading advertisements for a pan masala brand.
A complaint was filed by senior BJP leader and Rajasthan High Court advocate Inder Mohan Singh Honey, accusing Salman Khan and the company behind the product of falsely promoting it as “saffron-infused cardamom” and “saffron-infused pan masala.” Honey highlighted the implausibility of saffron being an ingredient in a product priced at only Rs. 5, noting that saffron costs approximately Rs. 4 lakh per kilogram.
Honey stated, “Salman Khan is a role model for many people. We have filed a complaint against this in the Kota Consumer Court, and notices have been issued for a hearing. Celebrities or film stars in other countries don’t even promote cold drinks, but here they are promoting tobacco and pan masala. I urge them not to spread the wrong message among the youth, as pan masala is one of the leading causes of mouth cancer.”
Following the complaint, the Kota Consumer Court has formally sent notices to Khan and the manufacturing company, seeking their response before the next hearing, scheduled for November 27.
It is noteworthy that Salman Khan has only appeared in advertisements for the brand’s elaichi (cardamom) product, not for the pan masala product itself. However, the company manufactures both elaichi and pan masala under the same brand name.
As of now, neither Salman Khan nor the company has publicly responded to the notice. The upcoming hearing will determine whether the court considers the promotional claims to be unfair to consumers, and if the actor’s involvement will have further legal implications.
