1969 Jeep CJ-5 at No Reserve

This 1969 Jeep CJ-5 has a unique history, reportedly owned by the State of California and used to pull passenger tram cars at the State Fair until it was acquired by the current seller in 1992. After acquisition, the vehicle was placed in long-term storage before undergoing a comprehensive mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment completed in 2025.

The restoration included an overhaul of the 225ci Dauntless V6 engine, repainting the body in white, and retrimming the seats with black and burgundy vinyl. This classic Jeep rides on 15″ steel wheels fitted with bright Jeep-branded hubcaps and wrapped in 7.00-series Cooper Super Traction-Tread tires.

Under the hood, the rebuilt 225ci Dauntless V6 delivers factory-rated power of 160 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque. The power is sent to either the rear wheels or all four wheels via a three-speed manual transmission paired with a dual-range Dana transfer case. Braking is handled by drum brakes on all four corners.

The exterior features include a fold-down windshield, V6 fender badges, Wagner headlights, and a pintle hitch for towing purposes. Inside, the split bench seat has been retrimmed in black vinyl with burgundy sides. Additional interior touches include a passenger grab handle, a glove box, a heater, and a storage compartment located under the passenger seat.

The three-spoke steering wheel is positioned in front of a 90-mph speedometer with inset gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer currently reads 18,000 miles, with approximately 100 miles added under the current ownership.

This well-preserved Jeep CJ-5 is offered at no reserve and comes with a California title registered in the seller’s name. It is currently registered as Planned Non-Operation (PNO) in California, making it a great candidate for collectors and enthusiasts seeking a distinctive vintage off-road vehicle with an interesting background.
