**Bill Maher Critiques Kamala Harris’ Memoir ‘107 Days’: “Everyone Sucks but Me”**

HBO Real Time host Bill Maher recently called out Vice President Kamala Harris’ new memoir, *107 Days*, in a sharp critique on October 3. “Kamala Harris’s new memoir of the ’24 election is called *107 Days*, but should have been called ‘Everyone Sucks but Me,’” Maher quipped.
Joining Maher on the show was CNN commentator Van Jones, a former advisor to President Barack Obama, who surprisingly applauded Maher’s remark. “*107 Days* is a victim’s title because, get it, she only had 107 days to win,” Maher continued. “Yeah. Uh, and a billion and a half dollars and a built-in army of about 75 million people who’d vote for any human-adjacent life form that wasn’t Trump.”
Harris’ memoir, released in September, focuses on her brief presidential campaign which lasted just 107 days following Joe Biden’s decision not to seek a second term.
### No Accountability in *107 Days*?
“But in *107 Days*, nothing is ever Kamala’s fault,” Maher asserted. “Biden lets her down by not stepping down sooner. [Pouty face emoji.] Gavin Newsom—he was asked for his endorsement but texted, ‘hiking, will call back,’ and then never did. And then, he didn’t even ask her to prom,” Maher added with a smirk.
In the book, Harris recounts her attempts to secure endorsements from several Democrats, including California Governor Gavin Newsom. She writes that Newsom told her he was “hiking” and would follow up but never did.
### Controversy Over Pete Buttigieg Comment
Maher also took aim at Harris’ revelation that she hesitated to select Pete Buttigieg as her running mate due to perceived political risks linked to his sexual orientation.
In *107 Days*, Harris states, “Pete Buttigieg would have been an ideal partner—if I were a straight white man.” She adds, “But we were already asking a lot of America: to accept a woman, a Black woman, a Black woman married to a Jewish man. Part of me wanted to say, Screw it, let’s just do it. But knowing what was at stake, it was too big of a risk.”
Maher responded sarcastically, “America itself lets Kamala down by not being ready for the running mate she really wanted, Pete Buttigieg. So she’s stuck with the Home Depot paint salesman [Tim Walz], and the rest is history.”
### Harris Praises Hillary Clinton but Takes a Swipe at Joe Biden
During her recent book tour, Harris complimented Hillary Clinton as a mentor while taking a subtle but pointed swipe at President Biden.
“We all hope to be mentored. We all hope to have support from those who come before. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. And certainly that’s true of politics,” Harris remarked. “Hillary Clinton is one of those people that believes in lifting people up and supporting people. And she follows through.”
Though she did not mention Biden by name, many on social media read between the lines, suggesting Harris was implying a lack of support from him.
### Harris Opens Up About Frustrations With Joe Biden
In the memoir, Harris touches on complicated feelings toward Biden. She writes, “My feelings for him were grounded in warmth and loyalty, but they had become complicated, over time, with hurt and disappointment. After warmly welcoming us into the Biden family at the beginning of the campaign, there seemed to be a change of temperature after the election.”
She also expresses frustration over Biden’s speech at the Democratic National Convention: “He spoke for nearly an hour, detailing the accomplishments of our administration. It was a legacy speech for him, not an argument for me, and he was entitled to it. But if we waited for some personal stories about working with me and what qualities he had seen that led him to endorse me, they weren’t there.”
