The legendary ’90s alternative grunge band from Chicago, The Smashing Pumpkins, have announced the cancellation of their much-anticipated debut tour in India. The band cited “unexpected logistical challenges and conditions out of our control,” according to a statement posted on their official Facebook page.
The group was scheduled to perform in Bengaluru on October 11 and Mumbai on October 12 as part of their Rock Invasion 2025 Asia Tour.
**Band’s Statement**
Fronted by Billy Corgan alongside James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin, the band expressed deep regret over the cancellation. In their statement, they said, “We cannot perform these shows up to the standards that we and our fans expect.”
The live lineup was set to feature tour members Jack Bates on bass, Kiki Wong on guitar, and multi-instrumentalist Katie Cole, delivering a setlist spanning over three decades of the band’s iconic music.
**The Smashing Pumpkins’ Impact**
Known for their monumental influence on the ’90s grunge movement and alternative rock, The Smashing Pumpkins have gifted fans timeless classics such as “Tonight, Tonight,” “Bullet With Butterfly Wings,” “Today,” and “1979.”
Their innovative sound extends beyond mainstream success, evident in experimental albums like *Adore* and the critically acclaimed *Machina/The Machines of God.*
