NPFL: Rivers United overcome Niger Tornadoes, stay unbeaten

Rivers United secured a 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, maintaining their unbeaten start to the season.

In the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) rescheduled matchday six encounter, both teams struggled to hit the target in the first half. However, the deadlock was broken in the 50th minute when Maclyn Biokpo scored the winning goal for Rivers United from the penalty spot.

The Port Harcourt club has now extended their unbeaten streak to 16 home matches in the NPFL. Finidi George’s side last suffered a home defeat against Bayelsa United on November 10, 2024.

With this win, the former champions moved up to third position on the league table, while Niger Tornadoes dropped to fourth.
