Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has backed left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh to play in the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup final against Pakistan. This endorsement comes after Arshdeep’s stellar performance against Sri Lanka in the final Super Fours encounter at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Despite being expensive during the match, Arshdeep dismissed Kamindu Mendis and finished with bowling figures of 4-0-46-1. More importantly, he held his nerve in the last over of Sri Lanka’s chase, showcasing his calm under pressure.

Irfan Pathan praised Arshdeep’s ability to bowl yorkers akin to Jasprit Bumrah, saying, “Look, first of all, he’s as cool as ice,” while speaking to broadcasters after the match.

### Super Over Heroics
India entrusted Arshdeep to bowl the Super Over against Sri Lanka, a decision that paid off handsomely. He bowled exceptionally well, conceding just two runs and taking two crucial wickets. His brilliant bowling helped India clinch a thrilling victory in what turned out to be a high-scoring thriller—both teams had crossed the 200-run mark earlier in the match. India scored 202/5, while Sri Lanka matched that score with 202/5 as well.

### Team Strategy and Selection Debate
Irfan Pathan also weighed in on the team combination, highlighting the balance between batting depth and bowling options. He stated, “But the team thought we needed longer batting. And if you want longer batting, then Shivam Dube plays as an all-rounder. Now, if he’s playing, Arshdeep doesn’t get a spot. But in my team, Arshdeep will always be there. And I’ve been saying this from the very first day.”

### Milestone Achievement
Earlier in the tournament, Arshdeep Singh became the first Indian bowler to reach 100 wickets in T20 International cricket. Additionally, he is the third-fastest bowler among Full Member teams to achieve this milestone in terms of the number of matches played.

With his recent performances and calm temperament under pressure, Arshdeep Singh has made a strong case for inclusion in the Asia Cup final, and many, including Irfan Pathan, believe he deserves to feature in the crucial clash against Pakistan.
