NEW YORK (Reuters) –
The primary near-term concern for the U.S. dollar is the risk that pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump could push the Federal Reserve toward an overly dovish stance, according to a senior executive at U.S. asset manager PGIM Fixed Income.
President Trump has been relentless in his criticism of Fed Chair Jerome Powell and the U.S. central bank’s Board of Governors, accusing them of not lowering interest rates sufficiently.
This ongoing pressure has raised concerns among investors that political influence may impact the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy decisions.
