Cherry’s 17 lead Sacramento State past Presbyterian 64-62

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – Jeremiah Cherry scored 17 points to lead Sacramento State to a narrow 64-62 victory over Presbyterian on Sunday.

Mikey Williams contributed 14 points for the Hornets, shooting 3 of 7 from the field and an impressive 8 of 9 from the free-throw line. He also added six rebounds and five assists, helping Sacramento State improve to 3-2 on the season. Jayden Teat chipped in with nine points, finishing 4 of 7 from the field.

For Presbyterian, Carl Parrish led the Blue Hose with 14 points and two steals. Jonah Pierce had a strong performance, posting a double-double with 12 points, 14 rebounds, and two steals. Jaylen Peterson also contributed 10 points and six rebounds, as Presbyterian fell to 3-3.
