Two years ago, KISS’ final farewell tour concluded at New York’s Madison Square Garden. However, it was understood that the band was leaving the door open for one-offs and residencies, alongside the promised hologram era set to begin in 2027.
This past March, KISS announced unmasked, makeup-free live shows as part of a three-day event called *Kiss Army Storms Vegas*. The first of these shows took place last night.
Friday featured an acoustic set. The band opened with a moment of silence to honor Ace Frehley, who passed away last month, and included other tributes to the late guitarist. During the performance, KISS played “Hard Luck Woman” and “Hide Your Heart” for the first time since 2019.
However, not all fans were impressed. A KISS subreddit user (though it’s unclear if they attended the show) criticized the acoustic set, saying, “Talk about phoning it in. Same boring stuff they always do at these acoustic type shows that they’ve done for years. Hide Your Heart is the only thing halfway approaching something they haven’t done to death at these kind of events.”
Tonight’s electric set is scheduled to take place, along with various panels and performances by other bands. The $4,909 tier tickets—which include hotel accommodations—have all sold out. However, it remains uncertain if anyone will get the unique opportunity to be Gene Simmons’ roadie.
