A dramatic Game 7 in the World Series drew a massive audience on Saturday night as the Los Angeles Dodgers captured their second consecutive title with a thrilling 5-4, 11-inning victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.
Nielsen fast-nationals revealed that 25.45 million viewers tuned into Fox for the decisive World Series game. Across all of Fox Sports’ platforms, the average viewership reached 25.98 million, marking the largest audience for Major League Baseball since the 2017 Astros-Dodgers Game 7, which attracted 28.24 million viewers.
This year’s Game 7 telecast now ranks fifth among World Series Game 7s since 2001. The 2016 series holds the top spot, with over 40 million viewers tuning in to watch the Chicago Cubs win their historic title, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Viewership peaked on Saturday night between 11:30 and 11:45 p.m., with 31.54 million viewers watching the game. Final ratings will be released on Tuesday and could reveal even higher numbers.
In Canada, Sportsnet averaged 10.9 million viewers for the matchup—the largest audience ever for a Blue Jays game. Viewership peaked at 14 million during the bottom of the ninth inning and reached a total of 18.5 million Canadians throughout the game, representing nearly 45 percent of the country’s population.
On the field, the Dodgers overcame a 4-2 deficit, tying the game with Max Muncy’s solo home run in the eighth inning and Miguel Rojas’ solo shot in the top of the ninth. Will Smith then hit a go-ahead home run in the 11th inning, and the Dodgers’ defense held strong to secure the championship in the bottom of the inning.
This unforgettable Game 7 will be remembered not only for its thrilling gameplay but also for its record-breaking viewership across North America.
