Deadly Fire in Sunland Claims Two Lives, Injures Five

SUNLAND, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A neighbor’s surveillance camera in Sunland captured video of a deadly fire that killed two men and injured five others. The fire occurred just after 11 p.m. on Saturday on North Scoville Avenue in Sunland.

Firefighters reported that an 87-year-old man was found outside the home with critical burns to his body. Four additional adults suffered smoke inhalation. All injured individuals were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Tragically, two men inside the home died, according to fire officials. Neighbors described the chaotic scene as the fire rapidly escalated.

“One of my neighbors, I saw him running out with the hose. I called 911. It seemed like a fire was starting over here on the side yard. Within minutes, it just quickly blew up,” said Alec Bogossian.

“We saw the ladder on the fence and we assumed something bad happened, and we just heard that there were two people passed away,” said Jasmen Bartanian.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet released the identities of the victims.
