**Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Powerful Feature Film ‘Krishika – Daughter of Soil’ Highlights Challenges Faced by Indian Farmers**
A compelling new feature film titled *Krishika – Daughter of Soil* is currently under production, aiming to draw attention to the pressing challenges faced by Indian farmers and the urgent need for organic farming.
The film is directed by Tariq Bhat and written and produced by Anand Manwani, with Prakash Rajdev from Indore serving as the creative head. Nearly 90 percent of the shooting is taking place in Indore and various parts of Madhya Pradesh, involving local artists alongside well-known Bollywood faces.
*Krishika* follows the story of a farmer’s daughter, who was raised in Canada and returns to her roots in India. Through her eyes, the film portrays the harsh realities of farming — including farmer suicides, exploitation by middlemen, financial struggles, and the environmental damage caused by excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
Writer-producer Anand Manwani shared his inspiration behind the project, noting that he has penned about 20 stories suitable for films, with 4 to 5 already made into movies. He said, “We often hear about farmers taking their own lives. They are our food providers, yet they are forced into such tragic situations. Through this film, we want to show that farmers must find courage and stand strong. Organic farming is the only long-term solution.”
Director Tariq Bhat added that *Krishika* not only narrates a personal journey but also conveys a powerful social message, encouraging sustainable agriculture. With a blend of emotional storytelling and strong performances, the film aims to spark awareness and inspire positive change.
Stay tuned for updates on this impactful cinematic venture that champions the cause of Indian farmers and promotes the benefits of organic farming.
