Facebook (META) Reality Labs lost $4.432 billion in Q3 2025

With Facebook (now known as Meta) releasing its Q3 2025 earnings results, the company also shared details about its various costs and losses. As expected, Meta Reality Labs once again posted significant losses in this quarter.

Meta Reality Labs, Meta’s VR/AR division, continues to be a major expense for the company. In Q3 2025, the segment recorded a loss of $4.432 billion. While this figure represents a slight improvement compared to the previous quarter—Q2 2025’s losses totaled $4.5 billion—it still reflects a year-over-year increase. For comparison, Q3 2024 saw Meta Reality Labs incur losses of $4.4 billion.

Since its inception, Meta Reality Labs has consistently contributed billions in losses to Meta’s bottom line. Despite being a leader in innovation within the AR and VR sectors, the division has yet to generate any positive financial returns for the company.

Facebook posted the full Q3 2025 earnings report, including the Meta Reality Labs financial breakdown, on its investor relations website earlier this week. As Meta continues to invest heavily in the development of virtual and augmented reality technologies, the path to profitability for Reality Labs remains a key point of interest for investors and industry watchers alike.
