DaRon Bland scores his sixth career pick-six

DaRon Bland made a bold statement when Commanders backup quarterback Marcus Mariota entered the game, greeting him with a rude interception. After Mariota replaced Jayden Daniels—who left early in the third quarter with a hamstring injury—Bland intercepted Mariota’s second pass and returned it 68 yards for a touchdown.

This marks Bland’s sixth career pick-six, and his first since Week 12 of the 2023 season against Washington. That game was notable for Bland as he recorded five interception returns for touchdowns during his only All-Pro season. For context, the NFL record for pick-sixes is held by Rod Woodson with 12.

Bland’s impressive play helped the Dallas Cowboys take a commanding 41-15 lead late in the third quarter. The Cowboys opened the second half with a touchdown on a 5-yard reception by Jake Ferguson from Dak Prescott, which was Ferguson’s second touchdown of the day.

Prescott has been efficient throughout the game, completing 17 of 25 passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns, further solidifying the Cowboys’ strong position in this matchup.
