**Cyclone ‘Shakti’ Warning Issued for Maharashtra Districts: Precautionary Measures Advised**

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cyclone warning for several districts of Maharashtra in light of Cyclone ‘Shakti’. A high to moderate cyclone alert is in effect between October 3 and 7, covering Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg.

The North Maharashtra coast is expected to experience wind speeds of 45-55 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 65 kmph from October 3 to 5. These wind speeds may increase depending on the cyclone’s intensity. Sea conditions are anticipated to be very rough, with rough seas along the northern Maharashtra coast until October 5. Fishermen are strongly advised to avoid venturing into the sea during this period for their safety.

In addition to the cyclone warnings, the IMD has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the interior parts of Maharashtra, particularly in East Vidarbha and parts of Marathwada. There is also a possibility of flooding in the low-lying areas of North Konkan due to intense cloud formation and moisture infiltration.

In response to the cyclone warning, the Maharashtra government has issued instructions to district administrations to enhance preparedness. Authorities have been directed to activate their disaster management systems and prepare evacuation plans for citizens residing in coastal and low-lying areas.

Public advisories are to be issued promptly, cautioning residents against sea travel and emphasizing safety precautions during heavy rains. The government urges everyone to stay vigilant and follow official instructions to minimize risks associated with Cyclone Shakti.
