**Red Bull Advisor Helmut Marko Takes Note of Fernando Alonso’s Impressive Pace in Singapore**
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko revealed that the team was cautious about Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso’s pace following his strong showing during the Friday Practice sessions at the Singapore Grand Prix. Ahead of the iconic street race at Marina Bay, the two-time F1 World Champion expressed optimism about the AMR25’s potential to secure valuable points, given its tendency to perform better on high-downforce tracks.
Despite failing to score points in Monza and Baku, Alonso, 44, has been in good form recently. He topped the FP1 session and followed it with a solid P4 in the disruption-filled FP2 session.
As reported by Soy Motor, Marko acknowledged Alonso’s speed and quickly highlighted the Spanish driver as a potential factor in the Singapore GP. After the FP2 session, Marko stated to the media:
> “Alonso was fast in all sessions, and they also put in a very good performance in Hungary, which is somewhat similar. So I think we have to take them into account.”
This marked the first time since 2014—when Alonso was racing for Ferrari—that he had led a dry FP1 session in Formula 1.

**Fernando Alonso Reflects on a Strong Friday for Aston Martin in Singapore**
Speaking to F1.com after Friday’s practice, Fernando Alonso commented on what he considered the best Friday of the 2025 season for Aston Martin. Both he and teammate Lance Stroll showed strong pace during the two practice sessions.
Alonso said:
> “It seems a little bit better than the previous Grand Prix. Let’s try to fine-tune the set-up; it’s still not in a happy place, especially on the front axle, still a little bit too much understeer. It’s something to work on tonight. But I think it’s a good start, and let’s see what we can do tomorrow.”
He further analyzed the sessions:
> “I think since the first lap in FP1 we were in a comfortable place, and we were able to find the limits quite quickly. In FP2, obviously the red flags didn’t help to see the full picture, so I don’t know if the top teams put a lap together or not. But let’s see if we can be in Q3 tomorrow and score points on Sunday.”
Alonso added:
> “I think both sessions in the top four, probably it’s the best Friday so far. But as I said, sometimes on Friday we run with different programs than the others, or different fuel.”

**Looking Ahead**
Fernando Alonso has not stood on the podium since his outstanding final lap in Brazil 2023 and is yet to fully regain that form this season. Nonetheless, his pace in Singapore has certainly caught the attention of teams and fans alike, suggesting that the Silverstone-based outfit could be a strong contender this weekend.
