In a significant development, YouTube has removed hundreds of AI-generated videos featuring Bollywood stars, following a lawsuit filed by celebrity couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan concerning similar content.
According to a Reuters report, the Google-owned platform hosted multiple channels and videos resembling those contested by the Bachchans. Before their removal, these AI videos had amassed a staggering 16.5 million views.

The Bachchans sought a ban on the creation and distribution of AI-generated videos that infringe upon their intellectual property rights. They also demanded a thorough review of YouTube’s AI training policies. Despite a court order issued last month to take down several such YouTube links, many similarly manipulated AI videos remained accessible, Reuters reported.
### Concerns Over YouTube’s Policies
The couple has raised serious concerns regarding YouTube’s content regulations and its third-party AI training policies. They argue that these policies permit users to consent to sharing their videos for training competing AI models, which could lead to the proliferation of misleading content online.
Their legal filings highlight the risks involved, stating:
*“Such content being used to train AI models has the potential to multiply the instances of use of any infringing content.”*
### YouTube’s Response
YouTube confirmed the removal of a channel titled **AI-generated Bollywood Love Stories**, which contained 259 videos and had garnered 16.5 million views. Additionally, another account named **AI Bollywood Ishq** was reported as non-functional.
The platform emphasized its commitment to deleting manipulated and misleading content. However, AI-generated videos portraying intimate scenarios involving celebrities continue to surface, prompting the Bachchans to seek damages amounting to $450,000 from Google and other involved parties.

YouTube boasts approximately 600 million users in India and serves as a major hub for entertainment content, including Bollywood videos. The Bachchans’ lawsuits include hundreds of links and screenshots of what they describe as “egregious, sexually explicit,” and “fictitious” AI-generated content.
In a related development, filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Nagarjuna have also approached the courts in recent days to protect their personality rights against similar AI-based misrepresentations.
