**DOT Launches Financial Fraud Risk Indicator to Combat Cyber Fraud in Madhya Pradesh**
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a bid to tackle the growing challenge of cyber fraud, the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) has stepped up its efforts with the launch of the Financial Fraud Risk Indicator (FFRI). This new tool alerts users about any suspicious transactions, helping to protect consumers from potential scams.
The DOT’s digital intelligence wing has also begun analyzing data collected through its app, Sanchar Saathi, to curb the spread of telemarketing and internet-based cyber fraud. As part of this initiative, the department has blocked 35,000 telephone numbers across the state that were used for commercial and investment-related calls. These numbers were flagged due to the possibility of being involved in cyber fraud.
According to Jai Wadhwani, Director of DOT Bhopal, a dedicated digital intelligence portal has been created to address online fraud based on complaints received via the Sanchar Saathi app. This system allows any suspicious transaction to be slowed down for further scrutiny based on user complaints.
This approach significantly reduces delays in fund deposits to bank accounts. If a fraud complaint is received in time, the transaction can be canceled and the funds refunded, thereby providing a valuable layer of protection for consumers against fraudulent schemes.
Through these measures, the DOT aims to strengthen digital security and safeguard citizens from the increasing threat of cyber fraud.
